African Safari Paradise: 8-Day Expedition

The 8 days Tanzania safari  trip is a complete wildlife safari program whereby you will visit almost all of the northern circuit parks except Arusha and Kilimanjaro parks. During this trip you will visit  four different national parks located in the Northern circuit and the tour will begin from the nearby city of Arusha.

DAY 1

TARANGIRE NATIONAL PARK

Driver will pick you up at your hotel and drive to Tarangire National park. The park is located 118 km southwest of Arusha city. Tarangire is famous for its big herds of elephants and big baobab trees. The herd of up to 300 elephants has been encountered in this park. It’s also known as the paradise for those who love birds. The following animals can be seen in this park; Predators such as Lion and hyena; migratory wildebeest, zebra, buffalo, impala, gazelle, hartebeest and eland which crowd the lagoon of Tarangire river. On drier ground you find Kori bustard the heaviest world flying bird, Ostrich the world largest bird, ground hornbill, yellow–collared lovebird, rufous tailed weaver, ashy sterling all endemic to the dry savanna of north-central Tanzania. Luckily you can spot Tarangire’s python which climbs trees like Leopard.

DAY 2

LAKE MANYARA

Today we are going to explore the beauty of Lake Manyara national park. This tour will start from your lodge or campsite where you will be picked up and drive along the rift valley to the park. On your arrival you will be welcomed by the troops of baboons and blue monkeys which scatter near the entrance . The park has an area of 330 square kilometers whereby 200 square kilometers is covered by a lake when water level is high. Lake Manyara national park is set at the base of a 600m high escarpment of the rift valley; this makes it the most scenic beauty.. The park is renowned for its tree climbing lion and the beautiful lake of the same name Manyara which attracts large colonies of water birds. More than 400 birds species has been recorded in this park, highlight is the pink hued flamingo on their perpetual migration as well as other large water birds such as pelicans ,cormorant and storks .Other animal includes, tree climbing lions, leopard, hippo, buffalo, elephants, zebra giraffe, gazelles, bush bucks etc. Other animals can be spotted as well which include lion, giraffe, elephant, leopard, buffalo, zebra, gazelle and so on. In water there are hippos and on the ground there are ground hornbill

DAY 3

LAKE MANYARA to LAKE NATRON

After breakfast you are heading to Lake Natron. Just past MtowaMbu you leave the asphalted road, along the East African Rift Valley the drive continues on adventurous slopes. The drive leads past Maasai villages and the holy mountain of the Maasai, the OlDoinyoLengai. As soon as the Maasai village NgareSero comes into sight, it is not far to the lake. The outlet Lake Natron is the home of a remarkable variety of birds, in particular about 2.5 million dwarf flamingos, the lake serves them as a regular breeding ground. The water is strongly saline and the basis of life for unicellular algae and bacteria, which are responsible for the planar red-brown to purple-violet coloring of the lake. The area around Lake Natron is one of the most beautiful and unspoilt regions in Africa. You will make a hike to the lake and then you will visit the nearby waterfalls, a true oasis with awesome waters to swim in. You’ll stay overnight at a campsite at Lake Natron.

DAY 4

LAKE NATRON to SERENGETI NATIONAL PARK

After an early breakfast you head towards the Serengeti. On adventurous slopes it goes the Rift Valley up into the wide plains of the Serengeti. The park was already founded in 1951 and is thus the oldest one in Tanzania. He is the heart of a vast ecosystem, whose species-rich animal world is unique in the world. Together with the Ngorongoro Conservation Area and the Maasai Mara National Reserve in Kenya, the Serengeti National Park is one of the largest natural migration systems for wild animals. Annually between the three mentioned conservation areas migrate over 1.4 million gnus, almost 300,000 Thomson’s gazelles, about 200,000 zebras and several thousand stopis with the rainy seasons to the areas with the greener and lush meadows. With about 3 million larger mammals, the Serengeti is the national park with the richest wildlife worldwide. Around two-thirds make up the above-mentioned animal species, furthermore the park is the home to many other animal species, such as giraffe, buffalo, hyena, elephant or crocodile. Particularly large is the population of feline predators, about 3000 lions, a good 300 cheetahs and an estimated 400-700 leopards have their hunting ground here. After the game drive, you will stay at the Lobo Campsite, which is located in the northern part of the park.

DAY 5

SERENGETI NATIONAL PARK

Early in the morning you start a first game drive in the park. Afterwards it goes back to the camp, where you already await a strengthening breakfast. Thereafter you continue with a further game drive into the central Serengeti. After an exciting day, you will reach your campsite in the heart of the Serengeti, the Seronera area.

DAY 6

SERENGETI NATIONAL PARK

This day is completely peppered with further game drives in the Serengeti. In the evening you will return with many impressions of this long day back to your camp in the Seronera area.

DAY 7

SERENGETI NATIONAL PARK to NGORONGORO CRATER

This morning you will continue with further game drives in the Serengeti, at noon you will leave for the Ngorongoro Crater. Both conservation areas are not separated by fences, on the way you can observe with some luck some more wildlife. You will spend the night in the Simba Camp on the upper crater rim, where you can enjoy a spectacular view and a great sunset.

DAY 8

NGORONGORO CRATER to ARUSHA

Ngorongoro crater is one of the largest caldera which resulted from volcanic activities that took place some millions years ago. Since then it has become host to a large number of grazers and predators. Ngorongoro crater has a diameter of 17 -21 km and it goes deep for 600m .The crater is found within the big conservation area which is under UNESCO. Nearly all wildlife and diversity of East African Savannah are gathered here except giraffes and a few animals that can not afford walking on a steep hill down to the crater. Depends on seasons but the population of up to 15000-25000 animals are gathering here, thereof more than two thirds buffaloes, gnus, zebras and gazelles. Apart from other predators more than 100 lions in different prides are living here. The chance to see big five animals; lion, leopard, buffalo, elephant and rhino is particularly high in ngorongoro.The presence of a small lake within the park also attracts colonies of birds, hippos are also found here. In the afternoon we will drive outside of the crater and proceed to Arusha.
